A 2-way radio, T9500XLR – has been brought into the market by Motorola that supports FRS/GMRS.At present, United States and Canada support its usage. It consists of a charging base along with two hand-held radios.With each radio, there is a NiMH rechargeable battery pack.
With body painted black, the radios have sleek silver buttons. Rubber covers are provided on the ports and buttons to keep harmful elements like dust and water out. There is a unique iVox feature in Talkbaout® T9500XLR that lets you transmit messages without the need of pressing any button. The message is transmitted to the required location after your voice is matched. No need of additional headset for this feature.
A security feature called Quiet Talk (QT) is present which only allows communication between units that are compatible with Motorola. The Motorola T9500XLR can receive weather broadcasts from the U.S. National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Radio.
Under optimum conditions, communication can be done over a distance of 25 miles as per claims of Motorola. Overall T9500XLR is a great two way radio with a few cons like high cost and muffled voice over long distances.
